PC market rises record but Apple drops

Share

Company Highlights

Lenovo retained its leading position and increased its shares further by 2018, with a market share of 24.3% at the end of this year. Outside the region, Lenovo APJ has grown in all other regions and has led all equipment manufacturers in 2019 with an increase of 8.2% annually.

HP Inc. PC Sales grew 4.8 per cent in 2019, and in the fourth quarter, growth was 6.9 per cent. HP battled CPU shortages throughout the year, and as a result, its market share increased by 23.6 per cent (from 23.1 per cent in 2018).

Dell Technologies retained its third position in the PC market in 2019 and increased its market share by 0.5 points compared to 2018, reaching 17.5% worldwide. Dell recorded its own record volume of logistics during the holiday quarter and led leading equipment manufacturers with a 10.7% increase year over year. The major reason for this growth was due to the mixed, strong US market with high trading activity in North America and several other key markets.

Apple Mac sales dropped 4.7 million units in 4Q19, up 5.3% over last year. However, Apple’s persistent dynamics in the iPad and iPhone have compensated more for the Mac than its worries. Shipment volumes also declined by 2.2% throughout 2019.

Acer Group completed the first five levels with a 6.1 per cent share for the quarter and 6.4 per cent for the year. Despite the fact that Acer was in the top five, sales declined 4.2 per cent in 4Q19 and 4.6 per cent annually.

In the last quarter and usually in 2019

According to IDC analysts, the PC market grew by 4.8 per cent last month to 71.8 million devices. And this is the best quarterly data for five years. Over the course of a year, the market overall weakened.

The five leaders of the top brands are the same for the last quarter and the whole year: Lenovo, HP, Dell, Apple and Acer. Overall, these five companies are in the market for about 80% of the entire PC market.

Analysts also note that, according to quarterly results and full-year results, three out of five companies showed growth. This is the first three. Both Apple and Acer show a decline in sales over time. During the last quarter, MacPC shipments fell 5.3 per cent to 4.7 million units, and over a year – 2.2%, to 17.7 million. This means that people generally buy PCs a little more than a year ago, but are less likely to choose Apple products.

The strongest of all for the year was to increase Lenovo sales – by 8.2%. Over the past quarter, the leader in this indicator was Dell – 10.7%.
