Microsoft starts updates for the first time without Win7

Share

Microsoft has begun distributing preview versions for Windows 8.1 monthly patches. Updates fix some of the problems that come after January’s patches and do not change security.

It’s also the first preview without Windows 7, which Microsoft stopped supporting in mid-January. Accordingly, there is no public preview of rollup updates for February.

On the corporate side, only Windows 7 users who pay Microsoft’s extended support in the future will continue to receive security and bug fixes. Previously there were always preview patches for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 – now only Windows 8.1 left.

The new update is now available for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. All changes to this preview are available at KB4534324. The preview can now be filled out. We looked at Changelog and translated it for you. So there aren’t many changes this month.

However, one known problem remains: There are some tasks, such as renaming files or folders to a cluster shared volume (CSV). An error may have occurred (“STATUS_BAD_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL 0xC00000A5)” and the process may have failed.

Monthly Rollup Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 (KB4534324)

This non-security update includes fixes and fixes that were part of KB4534297 (released January 14, 2020), and includes these new improvements to the standard as a preview of the next monthly rollup update:
