The ” Windows 10 May 2020 Update “, also called version 2004, can either be downloaded and installed as an ISO file or using the update function integrated into Windows. Alternatively, the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft can be used. We present the three options in detail below.

1. New installation and update via ISO files

With the official ISO files, Windows 10 version 2004 is easy to download. It can be used to update the Windows 10 system (update) or to perform a complete new installation (clean install). We offer the current Windows 10 ISO files via our download center. A USB stick with at least eight gigabytes of storage space is required for the installation. 2. Update using the Windows Update function

The Windows update can also be obtained and installed via the integrated Windows update function. To do this, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on “Check for updates”.

However, since Microsoft is rolling out major updates step by step, the latest version may not yet be offered. In this case, take the ISO files or the (subsequent) Media Creation Tool.

3. Download using the Media Creation Tool

With the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft, you can download the installation files for the Windows 10 May 2020 Update directly from Microsoft. After starting, select the desired edition (Home, Professional) and the language. Then you can either start the installation directly or create an installation medium (USB stick). The setup dialog guides you through all the necessary steps.

Windows 10 May update confirmed three problems

Today, Microsoft launched the Windows 10 May update, but some users found that after upgrading the new system, a blue screen appeared and appeared frequently. What happened?

For the above problems, Microsoft has confirmed that three problems will cause the device to have a blue screen problem during or after the upgrade of Windows 10 May 2020. Now the problematic device has prevented the upgrade. There are currently three known issues that can cause a blue screen in Windows 10 May 2020:

Old NVIDIA driver

Microsoft said that the reason for the blue screen problem is the outdated driver. Only drivers with a version lower than 358.00 will be affected. So from a technical point of view, as long as these drivers are updated, May 2020 update should be available. Microsoft said: “NVIDIA and Microsoft have found that some NVIDIA graphics drivers are incompatible with Windows 10 May 2020. Affected devices may experience a blue screen stop error or other issues during or after installation. The driver version is mainly below 358.000. ”

Microsoft said that the related fixes are under development and that device using these driver versions have blocked their upgrades by default. Of course, Microsoft does not recommend that users use other methods to install the Windows 10 May 2020 update, because if you do not update the driver, the bug will still exist and it will still cause a blue screen. For now, the only solution is to update the driver to a newer version. Microsoft said it is working with NVIDIA to fix this problem, but did not disclose when the patch will be released.

When plugging and unplugging the ThunderBolt dock

Devices that use the Thunderbolt docking station may receive a stop blue screen error when plugging in or unplugging the docking station.

Some Conexant audio drivers

The affected driver will be displayed as Conexant HDAudio Driver under the sound, and the video and game master version chdrt64.sys or chdrt32.sys under the device manager. The problem versions include 8.65.47.53, 8.65.56.51, 8.66.0.0 to 8.66. 89.00.
