Windows 10 May 2020 update: fresh problems and new bugs. The US Cybersecurity Agency spoke about the dangerous vulnerability of Windows 10. The May update for Windows 10 has been available for around two weeks and shortly after the launch. Microsoft had to announce a rather long list of bugs. The distribution is starting accordingly slowly, now further problems have become known.

Windows Latest has now updated or summarized the list. Some of which have been published by Microsoft itself, but some bugs are also “new”.

  • Image management for deployment (DISM) reports an incorrect status.
  • Variable refresh rates do not work with some Intel GPUs.
  • Bluetooth connectivity issues with Realtek drivers.
  • Conexant ISST audio drivers lead to the “Blue Screen of Death” (BSOD).
  • Attaching and detaching a Thunderbolt dock leads to the BSOD.
  • Selective restarts on systems with “Always On, Always Connected” features.
  • Mouse input may not work in apps and games with GameInput Redistributable.
  • Startup problems when aksfridge.sys or aksdf.sys is present.
  • Nvidia GPU driver version 358.00 or older causes BSOD.

The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency have warned Windows 10 users about the appearance of a program that exploits a system vulnerability that was discovered in March of this year. Experts called on all owners of this OS to urgently update and install the necessary patch. Since the vulnerability has the functions of a “worm.” This means it can spread around the world in a matter of minutes, like the infamous WannaCry and NotPetya viruses.

The United States Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued an official warning to all Windows 10 owners, TechCrunch reports. It is reported that users of this operating system urgently need to update it to the latest version due to the appearance of an exploit for a vulnerability discovered in March of this year.

This is a vulnerability called CVE-2020-0796, also known as SMBGhost or CoronaBlue. It affects the version of the Microsoft Server Message Block 3.1.1 (SMBv3) network protocol. About it became known in March.  At the same time, Microsoft released a patch that fixes it.

However, as CISA knows, attacks against SMBGhost have appeared on the network. It allowing malicious code to be executed remotely.

Vulnerability exploitation is a special program that can exploit vulnerabilities in computer systems (hence the name). The agency found that cybercriminals began to use this vulnerability to attack.

Since SMBGhost has all the signs of a worm, the situation becomes complicated. This means that SMBGhost can spread to all parts of the world very quickly and move between computers without user involvement.

The WannaCry and NotPetya viruses, which led to global cyber attacks in 2017. It has also belonged to this class of malware.

WannaCry and NotPetya viruses caused global cyberattacks in 2017. And also belong to this type of malware.

Although a patch to protect the computer from exploiting this vulnerability was released a few months ago. Many users have ignored the update and are therefore still at risk. According to reports, currently, thousands of computers around the world are considered vulnerable.

In order to prevent another network pandemic that may affect the entire world. The US Cyber Security Agency calls on all Windows 10 owners to check for the latest updates and install the patch immediately to prevent possible infections.

In 2017, the world faced new cyberattacks of the so-called fifth generation.

Unlike previous attacks, they targeted different devices around the world and spread at an unprecedented rate. Attackers use a combination of advanced technologies. It causing huge economic losses. Therefore, the WannaCry virus attack affected 300,000 computers in 150 countries/regions worldwide. The malware then exploited vulnerabilities in Windows systems that have not been updated for a long time.

WannaCry encrypts the user’s personal data and requires a ransom equivalent to $300. Including infections that occurred through the company’s network. The activities of many large companies, state organizations, and even departments were interrupted.

The British Ministry of Health said that cyber-attacks using the WannaCry virus caused damage to the national health system of 92 million pounds (about 120 million US dollars).

In the same year, a large-scale cyber attack caused by the NotPetya virus occurred, mainly affecting Ukraine.

This resulted in a financial loss of $300 million. It is well known that the White House blamed the attack on Russia.

In response to Washington’s insinuations, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow’s allegations of involvement in cyberattacks using the NotPetya virus are unproven and baseless.

“We firmly reject such allegations. We believe these allegations are unsubstantiated and unfounded. The Kremlin representative said: “This is nothing more than a continuation of the Russian terrorist movement, and it has no basis. ”
