Huawei Cheif Confirm: EMUI 11 will launch third quarter of 2020 | Wang Chenglu

Rumors of an upcoming EMUI 11 update for Huawei smartphones are growing after leaks reveal features and a possible release period. Google Android 11 and the new Harmony OS can serve as the basis for the operating system.

Update of June 6: In the meantime, has announced the launch of EMUI 11 for the third quarter of 2020 and Huawei confirmed. Software chief Wang Chenglu made a corresponding statement on the Chinese Weibo platform.

Network leaker Teme, often online, announces on Twitter that Huawei is due to release its new Android EMUI 11 interface in the fall of 2020. If the Chinese manufacturer remains true to its previous schedule, the next major update may be presented along with the Huawei Mate 40 series. The insider forecast seems interesting in that the Harmony OS can also play a significant role in creating networks for various classes of devices. In addition to Mate smartphones, they talk about televisions, PCs and gaming laptops.

The official spokesman has not confirmed the exact launch date at this time, but, like last year, Huawei will introduce EMUI 11 at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (HDC 20) consumer event sometime in August.

After its announcement, the company will begin beta testing EMUI 11 for the Huawei P40 series, and the Huawei Mate 40 series will be the first set of devices to be released preloaded with the new operating system.

New “connectivity” functions remain unknown for the time being

EMUI 11 is based on Android 11 open source and is likely to have new smart home features, improved privacy and user data security.

The official also spoke about the revolution in the mobile operating system EMUI and its progress in recent years from version 5.0 to the recent EMUI 10.

It is expected that Huawei EMUI 11 will be based on the new Google Android 11, which is also expected in the fall or in the fourth quarter no later. However, it remains to be seen how exactly Huawei can use its system, also known as HongMeng OS, for possibly exclusive features. However, the current EMUI 10.1 already indicates the direction. Together with Huawei Share, the manufacturer demonstrates an AirDrop-like function for transferring data between two smartphones, multi-screen functions in combination with a PC and an alternative to FaceTime. Similarly, previous EMUI updates have optimized NFC transmission in conjunction with your own MateBook books.

The parallel integration of Harmony OS and Android 11 can also illustrate Huawei’s plans to transition to its own operating system in the long term. U.S. government sanctions continue to guarantee that many smartphone users will have to do without important Google services, including the Play Store. Meanwhile, the Huawei Application Gallery continues to grow, even if the software selection remains manageable. The official confirmation of the update for EMUI 11 and Android 11 remains to be seen. Like Apple and Samsung, Huawei rarely responds to such rumors and forecasts in advance.
