Galaxy S20 receive first beta for Android 11 & One UI 3.0

Share

Following the launch of its new high-end smartphones and tablets in the second half of 2020, Samsung announced the launch of the Android 11 and One UI 3.0 beta for the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. However, access is still limited.

As Samsung recently announced, interested developers, can now register to participate in the beta testing of Samsung One UI 3.0 and the corresponding update to Android 11. Initially, this is a dedicated test program for development partners, so it is not yet open to the public.

The first beta is for developers

Initially, the Samsung One UI 3.0 developer beta program is open only to developers in the US and South Korea. However, relatively soon, the trial phase of the new edition of Samsung’s custom Android interface should begin for interested Galaxy S20 smartphone owners from Germany, China, UK, India, and Poland.

The One UI 3.0 beta is already available for the 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra. With the developer beta program, Samsung wants to ensure that third-party software is compatible with the new interface and functions as expected.

Samsung hasn’t publicly announced any functional and optical innovations yet. So it’s completely unclear how big the difference is with the current One UI 2.5. More recently, the user interface has been thoroughly revamped with only a few new features added. The group will probably post more information soon.

A native customized version of Android is becoming more and more important for Samsung to stand out from the wider competition of smartphone vendors. Among other things, the company is increasingly partnering with Microsoft to bring new features to Windows 10. In addition, there have recently been signs that Google wants to re-establish its presence in search and other services on Samsung devices. Just yesterday, Samsung also announced that it intends to offer major updates to the Android operating system within three years for flagship smartphones.
