Samsung: Apps can be mirrored on Windows with “your smartphone”

Share

With Microsoft’s Your Smartphone app, it is now possible to select current Samsung models to wirelessly mirror screen content on your Windows computer. In addition to the current flagship models, the older Galaxy S9 and the cheaper Galaxy A51 are also supported.

After Microsoft announced Screen Share for its Your Smartphone app last year, the feature is now available in a specially adapted version for Samsung’s first smartphones. From here, you can launch and use installed applications directly from your Windows computer. The advantage of this is that you can simply open applications in parallel with regular Windows programs. Which largely eliminates the need to physically switch between devices. This feature even lets you pin your own Android apps right to your own launcher so you can launch them right from there. However, Microsoft warns that some applications can cause transmission errors and thus black images.

In the beginning, this very useful feature will unfortunately only be available on select Samsung smartphones and for members of the Windows Insider program. The first is that Samsung’s One-UI had to be tailored specifically for this feature so that devices can stream relevant app content over Wi-Fi. It will be interesting to see if other manufacturers are implementing this feature in the near future. The following devices are currently supported:

  • Galaxy S9, S9 +
  • Galaxy S10, S10 +, S10 Lite, S10e
  • Galaxy S20, S20 +, S20 Ultra
  • Galaxy Note10, Note10 +, Note10 Lite
  • Galaxy Note 9
  • Galaxy A8s, A30s, A31, A40, A41, A50, A50s, A51, A60, A70, A70s, A71 (5G), A80, A90s, A90 5G
  • Galaxy Fold, Z Flip
  • Galaxy XCover Pro
