Sony Xperia 5 II specs and promo video leaked with 120HZz display

The leaked promo video for the Sony Xperia 5 II not only shows the three color options in which the new Sony smartphone comes onto the market

The first official promo image was shown yesterday. The launch date followed today and now most of the specs and the official promo video leaked. The Sony Xperia 5 II is no longer a secret and will not only be the smaller and smaller brother of the Xperia 1 II but will convince in some areas with targeted improvements over its predecessor.

Sony will not officially launch the Xperia 5 II as part of the IFA, but as a separate launch event on September 17th and important specs of the Xperia, which is much cheaper than the Xperia 1 II (on Amazon from € 1,190), are already on display. Unlike its big brother, the body looks more rounded in the video and also has a headphone jack, as shown by the 3D animation. The 21.9 display, which Sony calls CinemaWide. It has a 6.1-inch diagonal and offers Full HD + resolution instead of 4K, but of course, it still supports HDR. What’s new is that Sony now also uses a 120Hz refresh rate and also advertises a 240Hz touchscreen sampling rate. Some of the Xperia 1 IIs still lack faster refresh rates.

By the way, according to the latest leak, the case size is 158 x 68 x 8 mm, which means that it is about the same as that of its predecessor. While the 4,000mAh battery is significantly larger than the 3,140mAh battery in the Xperia 5. Sony was able to save 0.2mm in thickness – and adjust the headphone connection: everyone! Inside, of course, is the Snapdragon 865 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

In terms of cameras, we already know that Sony has kept the 3D TOF sensor. The other three cameras appear to be only marginally or not at all different from the Xperia 1 II’s triple camera, with a 12MP f / 1.7 primary sensor with a 24mm focal length and an 82-degree field of view complemented by a 12MP telephoto lens. F / 2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom, plus a 12MP F / 2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with 16mm focal length and 124-degree field of view. 4K video recording at 120fps should be possible, Optical Steady Shot (OIS / EIS) is also integrated.
