Although there are still about six months or more before the launch of Samsung’s new flagship, fairly reliable data about these devices have appeared on the Internet.
In particular, it seems that we already know what battery the smartphone will get. For example, the so-called Galaxy S21 Ultra with the catalog number SM-G998 will receive a battery with a nominal capacity of 4885 mAh. Which means that Samsung may denote it as 5000 mAh. Therefore, in this regard, Galaxy S20 Ultra will not have any changes.
The Galaxy S21 +, in turn, will receive a more capacious battery than its predecessor. The nominal capacity will increase from 4370 to 4660 mph, and the indicated one is likely to be 4800 versus 4500 mAh for the Galaxy S20 +.
As for the younger model, the Galaxy S21 should receive a battery with a nominal capacity of 3880 mAh, that is, the real one will be indicated as 4000 mAh.
Thus, only the Galaxy S21 + will receive a more capacious battery relative to its predecessor. At the same time, autonomy can change in any direction in other models, since it depends on many other factors.
Samsung will provide the Galaxy S21 Ultra with the same battery capacity as the current Galaxy S20 Ultra in 2021. This can be clearly seen from the information received.
In mid-August, we reported that Samsung will provide a larger battery than the current Galaxy S20 series in the future Galaxy S21 series for “intermediate” models. This also makes people hope that the biggest variant has a larger battery than the S20 Ultra. But in fact, it’s not.
As far as we know, Samsung is manufacturing batteries for the so-called S21 Ultra (probably also known as the Galaxy S30 Ultra), with the product number EB-BG998ABY. This belongs to the phone with model number SM-G998: the largest S21 model. We also found that the battery has a rated capacity of 4855 mAh.
This means that the capacity of the battery is exactly the same as that of the S20 Ultra battery. It has a rated capacity of 4855 mAh and a typical (nominal) capacity of 5000 mAh. Although the battery capacity of the S21 Plus will be slightly larger than that of the S20 Plus, Samsung will reserve the same 5000 mAh energy for its top Galaxy S models in 2021.
Of course, this does not mean that it is impossible to extend battery life. We assume that the S21 Ultra’s display has the same dynamic refresh rate as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The battery life of the device (with 4500 mAh battery) is not inferior to that of the S20 Ultra.
In addition, we can also confirm the battery capacity of the “base” Galaxy S21 that has surfaced elsewhere. The battery EB-BG991ABY does have a rated capacity of 3880 mAh. Which is equivalent to a typical capacity of 4000 mAh. This is comparable to the current Galaxy S20.
Earlier this week, there were rumors that the S21 Ultra will get a 108-megapixel main camera. This may be the ISOCELL HM2 sensor released yesterday, which is an improved version of the sensor we know from S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra.
In addition, S21 Ultra will soon use two different zoom lenses to obtain the best quality at different zoom levels. The lens may provide the traditional 3x optical zoom, while the periscope may need to provide more than 5x zoom.
Samsung is expected to release the upcoming Galaxy S21 series in early 2021. The release will take place later in the first quarter.
