iOS 14: The firmware permanently removes Fortnite

Share

If you are an iOS user and a fan of the online multiplayer game Fortnite, then you should refrain from updating your smartphone to iOS 14.

Recall that at the moment Epic Games and Apple are sorting out the relationship in court after the former introduced its own payment system for game content bypassing the App Store rules, and the latter removed Fortnite from its branded store.

As a result, iPhone users are now unable to download the Fortnite game from the App Store. But the story did not end there. The developers have confirmed that upgrading to iOS 14 may remove an already installed Fortnite.

If you see a message asking you to temporarily remove Apps to Install the Software Update? Then don’t agree. Since Fortnite will be the first app to be removed, not temporarily, but permanently.

Apple is giving users the option to temporarily uninstall apps to make room for iOS updates. However, if Fortnite is removed from the iPhone, the game cannot be re-installed. The official recommendation from the developers is to first click Cancel and then go to Settings> General> iPhone Storage to manually free up space.

Epic has recently filed a new preliminary injunction motion against Apple. The document Epic indicates a “blatant lie, which adheres to Apple’s, to expose the Epic in a bad light”.

How to get iOS 14.0.1

The update is now available in the usual ways.  Users can obtain the update using the auto-update function or initiate the update themselves in the settings. If you want to receive the update as quickly as possible, you can search for the software update in the settings and install it directly. To do this, go to Settings / General / Software update. The iOS update is displayed there. You can start and install the download directly. So you usually get the update faster than waiting for an update notification or choosing the automatic function.

This update contains the following fixes:

  • iOS 14 Fixed an issue where Default Browser and Mail settings could be reset after restarting iPhone
  • Fixed an issue where camera previews could not be displayed on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in iPhone unable to connect to Wi-Fi
  • Resolved an issue where some service providers could not send email
  • Fixed an issue where images could not be displayed in the news widget

Update now

The distribution takes place as an over-the-air update (OTA), depending on the user settings, either at the preselected time or directly when available. You can also use iTunes with a PC for the update and connect your iOS device. The update is recommended for all iOS 14 users. Information about the security update is not yet available.
