Rumor | The PlayStation 5 could become backwards compatible with PS1, PS2 and PS3 games via a PS Now upgrade

Share

Once again several rumors and leaks are speculated on the internet about PlayStation 5 backward compatibility. According to the rumors and Leaks( Both reliable and Unreliable source), Sony is using a revised version of PS Now to solve the lack of backward compatibility with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. This solution can not only play old games but also upgrade them.

Generally, Unreliable sources like 4chan should not be considered, but there are several Leaks and rumors on this particular topic. Also including news from more reliable sources. Therefore, even if the rumors are ultimately the wishful thinking of fans, they deserve careful study.

Several Leaks and Rumours are Speculate again about the backward compatibility of Sony PlayStation 5 on one of the Biggest Forums. Until recently, Ubisoft confirmed more or less than the next-generation consoles can play PS4 games without problems. But the games on the old consoles are not compatible with the new hardware.

Sony can add this missing feature through a new and improved version of PS Now. Sony will upgrade the server infrastructure so that it can stream through H.265 to improve quality or at least reduce necessary bandwidth. Similar to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (12.99 euros a month on Amazon), Sony should also provide a bundled service where you can subscribe to PS Now and PlayStation Plus for around 15 euros a month, saving about 4 euros.

Is PS5 is backward compatible with prevision generation console?

Even if the source of this rumor is not necessarily reliable, this information is consistent with previous rumors and fan speculation. For example, Mark Cerny deliberately left space in the graphic embedded below, in which the PS1, PS2, and PS3 should actually be shown – since hardware emulation seems to be ruled out, PS Now would be the most likely method Sony could use to ensure compatibility with older titles. However, this should not be a good solution for all users, after all, you need such a paid subscription to be able to play a presumably limited selection of retro games.
