The macOS 11 Big Sur beta latest code contains interesting information on the specs of the AMD Navi 2x graphics chip, which may be introduced as part of the Radeon RX 6000 product family. There is also mention of the Navi 31 GPU, which is already based on the RDNA3 architecture.

Reddit user stblr recently shared a datasheet with some details about AMD Navi 2x and Navi 31. Interestingly, the information comes directly from Apple, or rather from the code for the latest macOS 11 Big Sur beta. There is some interesting information about the number of computing units (CU), as well as clock speeds and power consumption. However, the specs are subject to change prior to launch, and it is also possible that the data refers to “Pro” versions of GPUs that are commonly used in Macs, so regular versions may have higher clock speeds.

The flagship Navi 21 GPU, codenamed Sienna Cichlid, comes with 80 CUs. Interestingly, macOS 11 lists two graphics card options, which could be an additional sign that AMD is planning a variant with HBM2 and one with GDDR6 graphics memory. Navi 21A delivers an overclocked 2050MHz at 200W TGP, while Navi 21B reaches 2200MHz at 238W.

Equipped with 40 computing units

In the middle class, the Navi 22 can be found under the code name Navy Flounder. The graphics chip is equipped with 40 computing units, the clock speed is indicated as a maximum of 2500 MHz, the TGP is 170 watts. The specs for the entry-level Navi 23 GPU, codenamed Dimgrey Cavefish, are not yet very detailed, apart from the fact that the GPU is equipped with 32 CUs. Rumor has it that this could be a graphics chip for the upcoming MacBook Pro.

The information about the high-performance GPU Navi 31 RDNA3 is the same as that of the Navi 21. However, this could be placeholder information because even Apple may not have more detailed information about the graphics chip yet, which is only available in more due to the market via year.
