Will the Apple Watch SE arrive in March 2021 as an updated replacement for the Apple Watch 3?

Is Apple bringing the iPhone SE concept to the Apple Watch? At least that’s what the one who has the information leak says. In March 2021, Apple Watch SE will merge the old Apple Watch 3 design with new chips and replace Series 3 as a cheaper alternative to the Apple Watch 6.

With the iPhone SE, Apple has repeated in 2020 what already worked very well in 2016: take the design of outdated hardware, insert modern chips, and an affordable flagship for anyone who doesn’t mind, Face ID, a rimless design ready and ditch multiple cameras. Apple can afford to offer the iPhone SE so cheap because the former iPhone 8 production lines are just being recycled, and the modern and fast bionic A13 chip is made in-house anyway – the concept works and is sure to make some Android fans switch.

The leader suggested that Apple will also bring this proven concept to its smartwatches. Keep in mind that there are no other indications other than one tweet from the Commission, which means we remain more than skeptical – the Apple Watch SE won’t be entirely unlikely, however. Apple currently offers both its Apple Watch Series 5 for around € 437 and the somewhat dated 2017 Apple Watch 3 as a base watch for anyone who can get by without a Retina display or ECG. The Apple Watch Series 6 will likely replace the Apple Watch 5 in the fall and make the Apple Watch 3 look a little older. An updated model with an old design could actually bring a breath of fresh air into the industry and increase Apple’s market share.

The design has remained the same

According to Komiya, the design has remained the same, but Apple is providing the Watch SE with new Apple S6 and W4 chips that offer more speed, and Bluetooth 5, for example. 16 GB memory. The LTE model should be able to make international emergency calls, a digital crown with possible tactile feedback (with question marks) is possible. In a follow-up tweet, the host also mentions silver, gold, and space gray. The price should remain on the same level as the Apple Watch 3 (currently available on Amazon from € 220).
