Intel revealed what the Xe-LP graphics of Tiger Lake processors are capable of in games

Intel released the mobile terminal 11th generation Intel Core processor (code-named “Tiger Lake”), the new CPU clocked higher, equipped with the new Intel Iris Xe graphics card, With up to 96 execution units (EU) and up to 16MB L3 cache, the official claims that the performance exceeds 90% of the discrete graphics cards in this segment.

Intel compared Iris Plus and Iris Xe graphics

Intel showed many different graphs during the announcement of Tiger Lake processors, but they were mainly about comparing the capabilities of their own CPUs with the capabilities of competitive solutions. And in the graph below, Intel has clearly shown how Iris Plus GPUs in CPU Ice Lake differ from Iris Xe GPUs in Tiger Lake processors.

First of all, in terms of parameters, Iris Xe is up to 96 EU, the previous generation is 64 EU, and the number of cores has increased by 50%. With the support of the new technology, the Iris Xe core display frequency has also increased from 1.1GHz in the previous generation to 1.35GHz.

As you can see, the integrated graphics of Tiger Lake processors are better for almost every parameter. The increase in the number of execution units, the frequency, and the size of the L3 cache memory inevitably affected performance.

However, for many, another schedule is much more interesting. It demonstrates what games can be played on laptops with Iris Xe GPUs at Full HD resolution – and what frame rates you can count on.

No matter how proud Intel is of its new GPUs, there are built-in graphics, and you can’t jump above your head (and/or thermal package/architecture). Above 60 fps is only available in Overwatch, Grid 2019, GTA 5, CS: GO, Dota2, League of Legends, Valiant, and Rocket League. However, if the frequency of 30 fps is taken as the minimum comfortable limit, then the list of available games is significantly expanding – up to Borderlands 3 and Doom Eternal.
