The promised new driver of AMD Radion graphics cards has finally emerged yesterday. Remember that once a year the company releases a major update for its driver, which adds a lot of new features and changes to the design.
Adrenaline 2020 version 19.12.2, which is already available for download, looks completely different and works faster (verified). In addition, AMD has not decided to reduce the list of supported video cards, so owners of all adapters already starting with the aging HD7000 series can try out the new software.
But the important thing, of course, is the new features. As expected, the driver showed support for Radon Boost technology. The essence of the technology is quite simple: when detecting high-speed image motion, the software slightly reduces the resolution to reduce the load on the GPU and thus increase productivity. On average, we are promised about 23% of FPS growth, but sometimes the price may increase significantly.
For example, in Overwatch, the manufacturer promises a 38% increase! Regarding the quality of the image, however, the AMD says it is significantly lacking, and is unlikely to be considered during the game. It’s also worth keeping in mind that Radiant Boost technology has to help a particular game.
The new driver has increased the performance of radon video cards by 12% overall, but this is compared to the first version of adrenaline 2019.
You can also notice the appearance of integer scaling support in the driver, which removes the image from many problems when converting a small extension to a larger one.
