AMD Ryzen 3000C: Processors to be found in Chromebooks soon

Chipmaker AMD has expanded its mobile processor product portfolio. The AMD Ryzen 3000C and Athlon 3000C series will soon be used in the new Chromebook. Both processor series is based on Zen and Zen + architecture.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700C and Ryzen 5 3500C are both based on the Zen + architecture and are therefore manufactured using a twelve-nanometer process. The Zen architecture based on the 14-nanometer process that is used for the weaker Ryzen 3 3250C. The chip clock can reach up to 4.0 GHz (Ryzen 3700C), 3.7 GHz (Ryzen 3500C), and 3.5 GHz (Ryzen 3250C). AMD Ryzen 3700C and Ryzen 3500C have four cores and eight threads, while Ryzen 3250C has two cores and four threads.

Although the name has been changed, the 3000C model is no different from the famous Ryzen 3000 processor. AMD Ryzen 7 3700C has the same technical specifications as Ryzen 7 3700U. The name is only used to help buyers find Chromebooks.

Gold 3150C and Silver 3050C CPUs have been added to the Athlon series. The first new chip is equipped with two cores and four threads and provides a clock rate up to 3.3 GHz, while the second new chip only provides a clock up to 3.2 GHz and has only two threads. These processors are based on the Zen architecture and are manufactured using a 14-nanometer process.

Chips are to be built into Chromebooks

The new Ryzen processor will be used in Chromebooks from multiple manufacturers. These include Asus, HP, and Lenovo. However, it is not yet known whether the corresponding model will also be available in Germany. Many Chromebooks are only sold in other regions outside of the United States or Europe. So far, there is no official statement from the manufacturer.
