Samsung presents the Galaxy Z Flip 5G with powerful hardware upgrades
Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and thus kicked off a round of new launches that culminated in the August 5 launch of the Galaxy Note 20. The Galaxy Z Flip has now been updated to the latest 5G technology.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G looks a little different from its predecessor. Apart from the new color options called “Mystic Bronze” and “Mystic Gray” which you will also find on the Galaxy Note 20, changes are mainly made under the hood. However, the focus is still on a 6.7-inch foldable OLED display that can be folded “vertically” and made from flexible materials.
The display is called Infinity Flex and is supported in a very stretched 21.9: 9 aspect ratio. The resolution is again 2636×1080 pixels and provides a pixel density of 425 PPI. The top cover also houses a small horizontal 1.1-inch AMOLED-based display. Which also has a resolution of 300×112 pixels. It is used again for displaying notifications and as a camera viewfinder for certain photos.
Galaxy Z Flip: Latest high-end processor with 5G under the hood
The most important innovation is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus processor inside. The high-quality chip reaches a maximum clock speed of 3.09 GHz and is installed alongside the Snapdragon X55 5G modem. The previous year still used last year’s Snapdragon 855 Plus, although you had to make do without 5G support.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G’s working memory is always eight gigabytes in size, while the 256GB internal flash memory is also large but cannot be expanded. In addition, a 2-piece 3,300mAh rechargeable battery is installed. So Samsung does not add power to the storage, despite the new platform and power-hungry 5G modem.
In addition to sub-6 GHz networks based on the 5G standard, it also uses radio over LTE Advanced, NFC, WiFi 6, or Bluetooth 5.0 LE. Of course, there is also dual GPS support and the ability to power the battery via wireless charging. Customer can use eSIM or nano-SIM slot.
The cameras remain unchanged as well, so Samsung continues to use the main camera with a 12MP sensor and a 1.4-micron pixel sensor that can capture a lot of light thanks to a maximum aperture of F / 1.8. The famous 10MP front-facing camera with autofocus is located at the top of the display. In addition, Samsung has made some software improvements and reinstalled Android 10 with the current Samsung One 2.1 UI.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be available in Germany from August 7th via the manufacturer’s official online store, as well as through selected retailers, and will cost € 1,449 MSRP.
