Experts say new coronavirus mutation: mutated in three strains around the world

News from April 11, according to media reports, British scientists discovered that the new coronavirus mutated into 3 different strains during the spread in the world. The coronavirus quickly mutates to adapt to the stability of the immune system in different populations. ,

The report indicates that scientists used sample data collected from around the world from December 24, 2019, to March 4, 2020. Which indicates that the new coronavirus has three different but closely related options called A, B, C,

strains of coronavirus

The study showed that type A virus is most closely associated with viruses found in bats and lizards. The researchers described it as a source of outbreaks. The virus type B comes from type A. It is separated by two mutations, and then type C, in turn, is a “child” for type B.

Relevant experts argue that the new coronavirus constantly mutates quickly to adapt to the stability of the immune system in different populations.

Healing is expected! Scientists identify six new coronavirus drug candidates

A Nature study found that an international research team tested more than 10,000 compounds to identify 6 drug candidates that could help treat COVID-19.

University of Queensland, Australia, Luke Guddat participated in the study and the efficacy of approved drugs. The clinical trial candidates and other compounds were tested.

Professor Luke Guddat said: “There is currently no targeted therapy or effective treatment for new coronavirus pneumonia. In order to quickly detect the modern lead compounds used in clinical trials, we initiated a high-throughput drug screening procedure in the laboratory. Computer software allows us to predict how various drugs will combine with viruses. ”

The main objective of this study is the new coronavirus protease, which plays a key role in virus-mediated replication, which makes it an attractive drug target for this virus. And since people are not born with this enzyme, compounds that target it can be safer.

Researchers added the drug directly to the enzymes or cell cultures that grew the virus and estimated how much each compound needed to stop the protease or kill the virus. After analyzing thousands of drugs, the researchers found that one of the six drugs appears to be effective in inhibiting this enzyme, and one of them is particularly promising.

Professor Luke Guddat said: “We are particularly concerned about some drugs that have passed clinical trials because they can be additionally tested as antiviral drugs at a higher speed, and new evidence must go through this process from scratch.”

Researchers said that after the release of the protease structure, the research team received more than 300 requests for additional information. With increased efforts, new drug candidates soon entered the clinical stage of the new coronavirus.
